Belfast’s Odyssey arena recently hosted the inaugural Northern Ireland International Horse Show, at which Bank of Ireland was one of the principal sponsors.
The show, which lasted from October 19th-22nd featured several major show jumping competitions with competitors from all over Ireland, GB and Europe participating, as well as a myriad of displays including gig racing, dog agility and the acclaimed Devil’s Horsemen, who wowed the crowed with their daring stunts on horseback.
Bank of Ireland’s competitions took place on the evening of Friday 20th including the BOI International Accumulator, where riders gained points for each fence they jumped with the opportunity to jump a joker fence at the end of the course. The rider with the most points and fastest time won and first place went to Ryan Prater on Vahgan De Lozana from GB, with a time of 41.03 seconds, who was presented with his prize by David Taylor, Relationship Manager from Business Corporate Banking.
Later that evening, the Bank of Ireland International Trophy, where international riders compete over a demanding course of show jumps, with all those who gained clear rounds going forward to a jump off against the clock, was won by Irish rider, Billy Twomey on Anastasia III, with a second round time of 34.35 seconds.
The event concluded on Sunday 22nd with the Ulster sportsman’s Grand Prix and Sherelle Duke memorial cup.
